Born and raised in Bethesda, Dr. Maddy Goodman is thrilled to be serving her hometown community. With an endodontist father, a future in dentistry was on her radar from an early age. Dr. Goodman attended the Holton-Arms School for middle and high school where she took her first Latin-language classes. This passion transferred to her time at Duke University where she majored in Classical Languages and graduated Magna Cum Laude as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She then headed to the University of Pennsylvania for dental school and graduated first in her class before completing her orthodontic residency at Tufts University. Dr. Goodman is currently the President of the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, the legislative body representing our region to the American Association of Orthodontists.
When she’s not at the office, she loves spending time with her husband (who’s also an orthodontist) and their two children, playing soccer, biking, cooking, and basically just being a mom.
We’re nothing without our team of dedicated dental professionals. Every team member is committed to patient and parent comfort.
Meet Becca, our Clinical Lead! Originally born in Nashville, Tennessee, Becca holds 17 years of orthodontic experience, including dental training from Educational Horizons, Inc in 2005. Becca earned her Dental Radiology degree from the State of Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene in 2007 and gained her Certified Dental & Orthodontic Assisting License in 2010 from the National Dental Assisting Board. She is dedicated to providing a flexible and family-focused service where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and happy at the practice. When she's not treating your smile, Becca loves to spend time with her two children, Haylei and Emanuel, and also enjoys traveling, swimming, and dining at local restaurants with her family. She can't wait to see you and your smile soon!
The moment you and your family enter our office, relaxation will wash over you. With earth tones and natural textures, like living walls and hardwood accents, your child will feel like they’re stepping into a beautiful garden of dental delights. We also plan to have STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) stations located throughout the office, and video game stations for older kids and teens soon. We also have Disney+ equipped TVs in every operatory. A dental home should be a place of comfort, especially for little ones, and every inch of our office has been designed with our patients in mind.
Being a board-certified orthodontist or pediatric dentist requires doctors participate in continuous education to renew their certification every year. Dr. Goodman and Dr. Sholander are both board-certified, and, as a result, are up-to-date on the latest advancements in dental techniques and technologies. Our office is equipped with an intraoral scanner and both hard and soft-tissue lasers to tackle a wide array of procedures. From traditional metal braces and Invisalign to pediatric crowns and frenectomies, our practice is equipped for every family member’s orthodontic and pediatric dentistry needs.
The Solea laser significantly enhances dental experiences for children who may otherwise be fearful of receiving treatment, due to anesthetic shots or the sound of a drill. The dental laser is quiet, reliably free of the needle, drill, blood, and pain that are associated with older technology.
For many procedures, anesthetic is not necessary.Because of how fast Solea works, most procedures can be completed in just minutes and there is usually no need for a second appointment. As a result of reliably anesthesia-free and blood-free procedures, your child will be able to leave the office—without that uncomfortable, numb sensation—almost immediately after Dr. Goodman completes the procedure.
We have partnered with a wonderful organization called City Blossoms that provides hundreds of kids across our city with the opportunity to create their own urban gardens and grow their own food. City Blossoms develop educationally-focused green spaces that supply food, community, and learning through creativity and play. For every new patient we will support this cause by donating plants to help these gardens grow because we believe that health starts from the ground up! To see how you can contribute, get in touch with one of our friendly team members today and reach out to City Blossoms at firstname.lastname@example.org!
